MMI Public Relations Sponsors Wake Education Partnership’s 2012 Education Summit On Oct. 30
RALEIGH, N.C. – Robert Buhler, president of MMI Public Relations, a full-service public relations firm, has announced that the firm is a Gold Sponsor at Wake Education Partnership’s 2012 Education Summit to be held Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Embassy Suites in Cary from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. The Education Summit brings together local leaders for an in-depth look at some of the most relevant and cutting-edge topics in public education. This year’s event, which is expected to attract more than 400 participants, will feature a presentation moderated by WRAL reporter and anchor Gerald Owens that reviews the new Common Core State Standards now being used in Wake County’s classrooms. Smedes York, chair of Wake Education Partnership’s Building Leaders Campaign, will provide an overview of that initiative. Building Leaders is the Partnership’s coordinated effort to raise funding for programs that improve schools by bringing together representatives from the Wake County business community, elected officials, educators and other nonprofits who are often the key decision makers when it comes to promoting best instructional practices.
The 2012 Education Summit will include remarks by Brett Carter, president of Duke Energy North Carolina, and comments by top local and state education leaders. Additionally, there will be a presentation of this year’s Vernon Malone Friend of Education Award, the highest honor awarded by Wake Education Partnership, to an individual who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to public education.
