John Edwards’ mistress, Rielle Hunter, recently participated in a tell-all interview with GQ. In the interview, for which she says she was not compensated, Hunter reveals every salacious detail about her affair with Edwards and poses for some questionable photos , including one with her and Edwards’ daughter.

The value of an effective communicator doesn’t come from a broad vocabulary (Scrabble winners aren’t always the best writers), or who can shout the loudest (Keith Olbermann, Bill O’Reilly and Stephen A. Smith need not apply). The best communicators can convey ideas and concepts with clarity to both a college professor and her fifth-grade son.

The fact that celebrities hire lucrative PR reps is no breaking development, but what I think is the most telling when it comes to celebs being PR-savvy is how they act on award nights, especially the Oscars.
I like to look at awards season as a PR final exam. Everything celebrities have been paying a team of highly-trained people to do is put to the test, and the public gets to evaluate how much they have – or have not – learned about basic PR.

Awards are a wonderful way to win publicity and earn goodwill from the public. Organizations that give awards look at what you have accomplished for your community, your employees and others. Awards are almost always based on real merit and strong leadership in improving the lives of others in the areas of business, community service and health care.
