PR: The Good, Bad and Ugly
Why Hiring a Small PR Company is Good for Your Business
by Jennifer Pearson on 10/19/2012
While some people might seek out the largest PR company to hire, we are confident that a small PR company can be just as successful – and may be a better choice – for many businesses. MMI Public Relations is classified as a small business, but the truth is that the only thing “small” accurately describes is the number of people who work here. We produce big results and help our clients start the big conversations that help them achieve success in their industries. Here are just a few areas in which working with a small firm can have large dividends:
• Personalized Service
Small firms have the ability to get to know their clients well and on a personal level. At many small firms, including ours, the team that you meet in your first meeting, before ever hiring the firm, is the team that you will continue to work with. These people learn the ins and outs of your business and your preferences for the way that your company is represented to the public.
Not only is service more personalized with small PR firms, but you, as the client, always know the right person to contact and have direct access to them. In a moment of crisis or stress, or even a moment of innovation and a great idea for your company, you do not have to worry about being given the runaround as you try to talk to someone on your account.
• Access to Firm Management and Leadership
Working with a small company provides you with much better access to the people leading the firm. In fact, at MMI, management leaders are present in the regular client meetings. They are accessible because clients are a priority to them and they want to get to know them and have great relationships. It is not uncommon in a small firm for management and leaders to know just as much as the account executives about what is going on in each client’s account.
• Flexibility
One of the most appealing qualities of a small PR company, flexibility can be a game changer when it comes to make sure that clients have the right type and amount of services being provided to them. Small firms can offer a more personal touch, which can include greater flexibility to meet individual, specific client needs.
With many big companies, clients may simply have to pick from their “menu of services” and hope that what they are selecting will fit what they need. However, a small company has the luxury of tailoring and creating solutions for clients that may not be standard but that are just the thing they desire.
• Your Success is Our Success
We care so much about our clients that we feel like when you triumph, we do too. This high level of interest in achieving client success is the driving force behind small companies’ hours of work and the creativity they put into making each client’s PR campaign successful. While we will never try to take credit for your wins, we share in the responsibility for driving positive results.
