A Bird In The Hand…
by Emily Packard on 08/23/2012
…is worth two valuable public relations lessons. Yesterday, our very own Lindsey Eibergen bravely rescued two birds that accidentally flew into the MMI office. Her quick thinking and excellent multi-tasking ability saved the day for a few cute, if rather frightened, winged friends. Henceforth, we shall refer to our office manager as the “Avian Avenger.” If you do call though, you still might want to just ask for Lindsey.
What did we learn?
1. The importance of thinking and acting quickly during a crisis.
Moving quickly in the event of a crisis can go a long way in resolving the situation and preventing further damage. Lindsey was able to use the items available in our office to humanely capture the birds without injury and release them back into the wild.
Similarly, when your business experiences a crisis situation, it is imperative to act fast in order to limit potential reputation damage and emerge relatively unharmed. Action items for crisis PR include telling the whole story, telling it quickly and telling the truth, as well as knowing how to address both the public and the media. Of course, being prepared ahead of time is one of the best steps to take in order to expertly handle a crisis. At MMI, we can help you get ahead in this area. For more information, visit our Crisis Management & Crisis PR Services page and download our free white paper to “learn how to handle it when the worst happens.”
2. The value of utilizing multiple areas of expertise in any situation.
As office manager, Lindsey wears many hats. She manages schedules, keeps us all organized, and of course, rescues wayward birds. Her ability to multi-task is part of what makes her so excellent at her job.
Here at MMI, we specialize in public relations, but have many different areas of expertise. We know traditional media, social media, crisis PR, podcasts, videos, media training and more. This allows us to offer a very high level of service to our clients to meet their specific public relations needs.
