Hilary Swank, best known for her Oscar-winning performances in Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby, recently caused a PR stir after attending (and speaking at) the 35th birthday party of Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov. Such an appearance normally would not be such a problem, except for the allegations of human rights violations, including torture and murder, by Kadyrov against political dissidents and rivals.
